Wireless Expense ManagementSeptember 12, 2011
Validas Talks Wireless Analytics Management at ITEXPO West in AustinIf you ever opened up your monthly wireless bill or accessed your account online and were less than pleased with the charges due, it’s time to get a hold on your monthly statement and implement a wireless management plan. Whether a large enterprise, small to medium-sized business, or individual wireless customer, wireless management plans are necessary to ensure users are not being overcharged on their mobile invoices. Validas (News - Alert), founded in 2007 by a small group of experienced wireless industry veterans, provides a wireless analytics service that digs into a user’s wireless bill using an innovative technology that investigates a client’s invoices and provides them with detailed reporting based on their usage. Thomas Pepe, co-founder and CEO of Validas, described the company’s wireless analytics management suite as “Turbo Tax for your wireless bill,” because it provides each user with customizable, on demand reporting based on their individual usage. Validas prides itself in being inventors in the wireless analytics management space, which refers to total analytics expense management, not just wireless expense management. Pepe mentioned that some of Validas’ largest customers are the carriers themselves. One company they are partnering with is Best Buy (News - Alert). Together, the two companies are in the process of developing a Bill Checker that Pepe explained as plan insurance for regular everyday wireless customers. Validas’ wireless analytics service applies to customers in different ways, depending on their needs. The company’s reporting digs into a customer’s spending, usage and how they can save based on what they are using as opposed to what the promotion is. Seven or eight out of ten consumers for example, can save around $400 a year, particularly because the majority of consumers are oversubscribed, according to Pepe. He added that by simply tweaking a customer’s wireless plan based on their actual usage, they are bound to save monthly. Validas also developed a free iPhone (News - Alert) app called My Peeps, which after connecting to your wireless account, reads your information and tells you who you are in contact with the most from your wireless device. Pepe referred to My Peeps as a social app since you can update it based on your most recent usage and determine who you call most frequently. The next version of the app, which is currently in development phases, will target who a user texts the most.
